Namibia's former Director-General of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr Zed Ngavirue, is satisfied with the implementation of Government's priority areas it set immediately after independence.
Ngavirue notes that the key issues needed to be addressed immediately in 1990, were housing, education, health and agriculture, because of the serious disparities that existed in the country during the colonial era.
He points out that to date, the country has significant improvements in these sectors, that are all aimed at improving the living standards of the country's citizens.
Dr Ngavirue stresses that primary and secondary schools were constructed, fully fledged tertiary institutions and health facilities set up or upgraded all over the country.
However, he says although the country is still at its development phase, much needs to be done to alleviate poverty, unemployment and existing inequalities.
Dr Ngavirue, who served from 1990 to 1995, made the comments in an interview with NBC News and Current Affairs, as part of the coverage of Namibia's 20-th Independence Anniversary.
