Kunene's Governor, Dudu Murorua is satisfied with the development of his region since independence.
The region witnessed the building and upgrading of schools, clinics, roads and other infrastructure, including the telecommunications network.
Murorua says the regional capital, Opuwo, is being transformed into a cosmopolitan hub of business activities.
He says land is available for business, and construction is underway to open a fruit and vegetable shop, pharmacies and other enterprises at the town.
Murorua also urges the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry to assist the people in establishing a functional business chamber at Opuwo.
On the health front, he says the Regional Council has plans to curb cholera and has improved the quality of water and the sewerage systems at schools and health facilities.
Plans are also underway to embark on a rural sanitation campaign, providing every household in the region with a toilet.
Kunene attracts more tourists every year with its historic sites of the Twyfelfontein world heritage site, the Burned Mountain, Vingerklip rock, Epupa Falls and 17 conservancies.
The Governor made the assessment in an interview on the NBC News and Current Affairs radio actuality programme, the World-at-Six.
