Namibia's Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, Rosalia Nghidinwa, has advised cattle herders and farm workers from neighbouring countries, who work in the Caprivi region, to acquire proper documents to allow them to stay in Namibia.
Speaking at the official opening of a Home Affairs Sub Regional office at Sangwali village, Nghidinwa said due to the strategic location of the Caprivi region, domestic workers often entered the region in search of work illegally.
She pointed out that Namibian laws required that anyone wishing to come and work in the country should apply for work permits and other national documents.
The Home Affairs Minister further criticised learners who changed their birth dates to secure re-admission in school after failing certain grades.
Nghidinwa also appealed to Namibians to stop changing their names without following proper procedures, noting that such name changes were costly for the Government and the concerned individuals.
She also urged Namibians not to re-register the birth of children, but to rather apply for duplicate documents, if they had lost the original ones.
