The nbc is Namibia’s only public service broadcaster
and is funded through state subsidy, TV licenses, airtime sales, sponsorships
and other broadcast related business enterprises. The Corporation
thus has a strong commercial intend as is signified by the activities
and high profile positioning of the Marketing Department within
the Corporation. The Mission of
the Marketing Department is to generate revenue through airtime sales,
sponsorships and other broadcast related enterprises, such as music
shows, programme sales, branded products and memorabilia.
The Corporation has a trained team of Advertising Consultants in Windhoek
and a computerised Traffic Section for the processing of transactions.
The well-equipped Marketing Support Unit produces Radio and TV ads
at competitive rates. TELEVISION
Comprise of one channel – attracts more than 400 000 adult viewers
each day – that translates to 40% of the adult population. The channel
delivers great entertainment, education, news and sport, but with
different emphasis.


NBC now broadcasts 24 hours a day as
from 1 April 2004 on satellite platform.
RADIO
Our national radio network comprises of 10 radio stations, one for
each of the Official Languages. Rankings of radio station as per

NBC radio is the dominant force in Namibian
broadcasting, attracting massive audiences. Official statistics
indicate that of the estimated 1. 051 000 adults in Namibia, 92
% of them tune into one of the ten NBC stations. |
