Some of NBC’s Most Recent Achievements

Since Mr. Matthew //Gowaseb has taken up his duties as acting Director General of the NBC he has initiated a large number of changes at the NBC, such as the revamping of the TV News and the Good Morning Namibia shows, the extension of the 20:00 TV News bulletin, the introduction of the Afrikaans and German TV News bulletins, the increase of local music on NBC Radio, the realignment of the NBC’s Top Management, the production of new local TV programs, such as ‘Whatagwan’ a youth program, ‘A New Season’ a religious program, ‘The Week that Was’, a local panel discussion, ‘House & Home’, a women’s magazine show, ‘Beats per Minute’, a music show, ‘Boot Camp’ and most recently ‘Absolute Rugby’, another local sports program.

The acting Director General has furthermore spearheaded the extension of the NBC TV broadcasting hours (NBC TV currently broadcasts on a 24-hourly basis) and the inclusion of National Radio on the DStv Audio bouquet. The National Radio signal has been placed on channel 183 of the DStv Audio Bouquet and will be accessible to every subscriber on the DStv platform on the IS7 footprint. The IS7 footprint consists of the following countries: Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Angola, Malawi and Zambia.

Aside from that, the NBC is now offering ‘Al Jazeera News’ live in order to provide NBC TV viewers with a wider range of news sources and perspectives and NBC Radio has increased the frequency of its news bulletins. A large number of TV presenters have been trained, as well as news reporters and radio presenters.
