The television Service aims to provide high quality programmes that are relevant to the needs of the Namibian public. Our mission to entertain, educate and to inform Namibians in a responsible.
NBCTY continues to acquire of fresh programming material as well as introduce new local productions as well as live broadcasts. In line with its commitment to upholding high standards of quality, NBCTV has rolled out a brand new television image at the beginning of October 2008. The exercise involved the designing of new graphics elements, generic stingers, and promos, as well as the new tag line for television the image change has widely been appreciated by the public.
As far as commissioning of new program is concerned, NBCTV is proud to been involved in the successful commissioning of a local drama, “3 ties that bind”. The drama was commissioned with funds from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology to compliment local content. In addition many programs were received and/or acquired from private producers and governmental institutions and were broadcast on our channel, receiving positive public response. Some of the new programmes introduced include school ground and Salt and Pepper.
The corporate agreement between the NBCTV and the Japanese broadcasting corporation has resulted in the supply of educational TV programs. These programmes have significantly improved the quality of the daily educational slot. Furthermore, NBC has benefitted from CFI in terms of sports, documentaries, movies and reality program material. This agreement made it possible for us to broadcast one of the world sport master piece, the UEFA CUP, and other international sports and athletics events.
The recruitment and promotion of staff in the unit has resulted in the revival of 2 programs, green horizon & cultural paradise that were shelved because of a shortage of staff...
The section was able to produce ad hock programs aimed at marking national and international days, and events.

Highlights:

The production highlights were as follows:
·        Live coverage of the African Cup of Nations
·        Live or delayed coverage of the European Cup
·        Live coverage of the Brave Warriors 2010 world cup qualifiers against Kenya and Guinea.
·        Live coverage of Rugby matches between Namibia and Western province.
·        The Biggest local football Cup Competition NFA cup was covered live, and highlights were shown to the public.
·         Besides the two local weekly sports shows we produce weekend local programs such as Vasbyt, Namibian Premier League highlights, Rugby matches, Moto cross, Netball and Basketball also featured on TV.
·        After protracted negotiations, the NBC managed to acquire the broadcast rights of the 2 world renowned premier leagues, the English and Spanish Premier Leagues.  These leagues have been broadcast either live or delayed both on radio and television. Because of its huge appeal to the general public  appeal , the Namibia Breweries sponsored the English premier league, thereby saving the NBC more than N$500 000-00.
·       We have successfully hosted the NBC
Sanlam Music awards
·        Live coverage of state funerals and the opening of the new state house.

The year 2008, has seen significant improvements in the TV domestic section. Three production officers were appointed in vacant positions, after the resignation of Boris, Joseph  & Byron .
Three production assistants were promoted to Assistant producers, allowing the section a chance to increase local content.
Two new producers were appointed, significantly having eased the burden of production.
